Possible Aid and Attendance payment levels
For the rate period beginning December 1, 2025, the current maximum annual pension rates for applicants who qualify for Aid and Attendance are equivalent to approximately:
Veteran with no dependents
$29,093 maximum annual pension rate
Veteran with one dependent
$34,488 maximum annual pension rate
Surviving spouse with no dependents
$18,697 maximum annual pension rate
Important: These figures are maximum annual pension rate equivalents, not guaranteed payments. The VA generally calculates a pension using the applicable maximum annual pension rate minus countable income. Eligibility, income, assets, care needs, dependents, and other individual circumstances affect the actual award.

A veteran or qualifying surviving spouse may wish to request a review when the veteran meets current VA wartime-service and discharge requirements, the applicant meets current income and net-worth limits, and regular help is needed with activities of daily living or another current Aid and Attendance condition applies.
Only the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs determines benefit eligibility and payment amounts.
